About Us

Cheyenne River Animal Hospital, also known as CRAH, was started in 1996 by Dr. Stephanie Stevens. The name comes from the Cheyenne River that runs through Fall River County in southwest South Dakota. CRAH offers quality medicine and surgery for large animals
(cattle and horses) as well has pets (dogs and cats), and other four legged friends. Even though the clinic is in the community of Edgemont, SD, the practice area extends to other surrounding communities in southwest South Dakota, including Hot Springs and Custer.

Other areas served by the practice include Harrison, NE, Lusk, WY and Newcastle, WY. Besides the surrounding areas, many of our customers travel many miles to use the services and doctors at CRAH. Starting in the spring of 2007, CRAH has offered the services of two full time Veterinarians. Both Dr. Stevens and Dr. Koller are licensed and accredited in South Dakota, Wyoming, and Nebraska. Dr. Stevens is also licensed and accredited in Kansas and Colorado.

Dr. Stephanie Stevens

Dr. StevensDr. Stevens grew up in Rapid City, SD, went to South Dakota State University in Brookings and attended veterinary school at the University of Minnesota. After a short time working with Black Hills area veterinarians, she founded CRAH in Edgemont. She has received certification in animal chiropractic and is also certified to run Coggins tests for Equine Infectious Anemia at the clinic. This allows quick and easy results for Health Certificates on horses.

Dr. Erica Koller

Dr. KollerDr. Koller grew up in Edgemont, SD, went to South Dakota State University in Brookings and attended veterinary school at Iowa State University. While attending veterinary school, Dr. Koller attended specialty classes in bovine reproduction, including embryo transfer. She is very comfortable in small animal surgery. Since she is the daughter of a local rancher, she understands importance of animal well being and herd health in this area. She has also spent some time traveling to other parts of the United States and the world through veterinary medicine.

Lorinda

LorindaLorinda is originally from Southeast Nebraska. She came to Edgemont area more than 30 years ago and to the clinic in 1997. She wears many hats at CRAH, primarily the ones of receptionist and assistant to the Doctors. Lorinda enjoys the diversity her job provides. A typical day can bring an array of duties and activities that may include anything from lab work to managing inventory. She also handles a portion of appointment scheduling and has a substantial part in patient care. The avenue of patient care she specializes in is pet grooming. She serves as the clinics certified pet groomer one day each week. Her many years of experience allow her to provide an elevated level of customer service to clients.

Tammy

tammyTammy joined the office staff in 2008 and has lived in the Edgemont area for 2 years. If you have ever talked to her on the phone or in person, you will realize that she didn't "hale from these parts". Tammy is originally from South Central Florida, so don't be offended if she refers to you as "Ma'am" or "Sir".

Tammy is currrently taking on-line classes with Penn Foster College to become a certified veterinary technician. She has had years of experience with clerical work and customer service.

Jean Schoepf

jean schoepfJean Schoepf has been the bookkeeper for the Clinic since it opened in 1996. Raised in Rapid City, Jean and her husband have lived in Edgemont since 1977. She has been doing the bookwork for several Edgemont businesses over the years and currently comes in weekly to make sure all the bills and taxes are paid as well as issuing payroll checks. Being a "city girl", the aspects of working with ranching businesses have been an ongoing learning experience.
